I hate curling my eyelashes.
First of all, it’s an extra step in an already lengthy makeup process that I resent having to perform — some women have the audacity to have long, pre-curled-in-the-womb lashes. Not mine — they’re short and straight.
Secondly, eyelash curlers look like small torture devices. You are clamping a tiny vise onto delicate little hairs that are extremely close to your eyeball. All sorts of things could go awry.
I’ve been tired (or distracted) and forgotten to release the curler before pulling it away, effectively ripping out some of my already sparse lashes. So when I saw there was a new mascara that’s gone viral for its ability to curl without the curler, I had to check it out.
Off to Target I went to grab the Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce mascara that has been hyped up for curling and defining with just a few strokes.
Coming in two colors, Blackest Black and Very Black (which was my pick), it claims to “Deliver lasting bouncy lashes and defy clumps, smudges, and flakes. Its memory curl formula gives 24HR wear.”
Did it live up to its promises? Sort of.
While I did notice that my lashes looked longer, I did not notice an extra curl or bounce. Disclaimer: my lashes are short and straight, as I said above, so it just may not work on my eyelashes.
It did not clump or smudge, making it a decent mascara that I’ll definitely add to my makeup rotation, but I’ve found that the brands listed below are just as, if not more, worthy of your money.
