The iconic sportswear brand Lululemon is having a year of groundbreaking launches, the first being the addition of pockets (yes, POCKETS, yay!) to its bestselling Align Leggings; a line of running sneakers; and now two styles of performance hijabs.
Really interested to see what people think of the @lululemon “Performance Hijabs” once they’ve had a chance to try them out. I am suspending all skepticism and hope they’re really great 😊 pic.twitter.com/qND5ElGV5x

According to a media release, Lululemon consulted with hijab wearers “across the brand’s global collective” to design three unique styles. The first two styles are available now, and the third, a Pull-on Hijab, will be released later this year.
“Lululemon hijabs are constructed with lightweight, breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics and offer adjustable fits and distraction-free features to support guests during their activities of choice and as they move throughout their day,” stated the company.
The headscarves are worn by some Muslim women in public. As a result, Lululemon said its design team worked with hijab wearers to create the assortment, which includes lightweight and moisture-wicking fabrics.
The two workout hijab styles include a Lightweight Performance Hijab, designed as a pullover for working out, and the more traditional Scarf-Style Hijab, geared toward daily wear or low-impact exercise like walking or yoga.
The first is available in two colors, black and blue, and the second comes in either heather gray or pink.
“Whether you’re actually planning on working out in your Lululemon hijab or just want something lightweight, breathable, and sweat-wicking to wear on vacation this summer, there’s no denying that the brand knows how to design buttery-soft fabrics that are the very definition of comfort,” says Women’s Health.
While the fashion world has made significant strides in inclusivity, there is much more progress to be made, especially when it comes to workout hijabs. But Lululemon has taken a big first step, and hopefully, other activewear brands will get on board.
