There’s a new plant-powered beauty brand on the block, and they’re making waves in the clean beauty community. In 2008, W3ll People was founded by a group of 3 people: a makeup artist, an entrepreneur, and a dermatologist, all on a mission to create an organic, clean, and cruelty-free beauty line.

They had a vision to change the beauty industry. They base their brand on these 7 things:
-
Authentic, premium quality, plant-based ingredients
-
Natural cosmetics that outperform their toxic competition
-
Hybrid products that deliver cosmetic results and skincare benefits all-in-one
-
The idea that less is more
-
People, Press, and Pros can’t get enough
-
Makeup with nothing to hide
-
Triple threat: veteran makeup pro, wellness visionary, and cosmetic dermatologist
It’s hard to find affordable beauty brands (let alone a clean one), but luckily W3ll People is both. Recently, E.L.F. acquired W3ll Beauty, and with their backing, they aim to launch more products and make clean beauty accessible to all. We got our hands on a few of their products to review.
SuperPowder Bronzing Powder
Plant-powered ingredients:
-
Organic Squalane: benefits facial hydration
-
Organic Cornstarch: controls excess oil and makeup creasing
-
Mica: Helps skin look luminous and smooth
Our Review:
This bronzer brings a nice healthy glow to the skin. It’s only offered in two shades, but don’t let that stop you – this formula is super buildable. It has a light coverage, which is nice for everyday use, but the pigments are more on the orange-ish side, so this won’t work for all undertones. It also has a glittery finish, so if you like your makeup to have more of a matte finish, this product isn’t for you. I liked this bronzer, but it wasn’t one I grabbed too often. I found myself using this when I wanted a super light glam.
Bio Booster Oil
Plant-powered ingredients:
-
Rose Hip Seed Oil: Nourishes and plumps skin’s fine, dry lines
-
Organic Jojoba Oil: Balances skin, making it look and feel hydrated
-
Crambe Seed Oil: Conditions the skin and imparts a healthy glow
Our Review:
This oil is super hydrating and is recommended to use AM & PM. I use this oil as my base under my foundation to help achieve that glowing, dewy skin look. While it is an oil, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy – it settles in really nicely. I have combination skin, so finding products that work for me is hard, but my skin loves this oil! I’ve found that using two drops is the perfect amount, so the bottle will last for quite awhile.
Expressionist Volumizing Mascara
Plant-powered ingredients:
-
Castor Seed Oil: Conditions lashes
-
Sunflower Seed Oil: Nourishes and hydrates with essential fatty acids
-
Cellulose Plant Fiber: A natural thickening agent that helps volumize lashes
Our Review:
I wasn’t a huge fan of this mascara – while it gave me good volume and coverage, it never seemed to dry. I really like the look it gave, but the formula seemed to be lacking. After I noticed that my lashes were a bit tacky after using, I decided to lightly coat the top with a second mascara, and that seemed to solve my problem. If you want volume and don’t mind layering two mascaras, give this a try!
Power Eyeshadow Palette (Sepia)
Plant-powered ingredients:
-
Organic Jojoba Oil: Balances skin, making it look and feel hydrated
-
Grapeseed Oil: Rich in antioxidants and provides a smooth finish on the skin
-
Rice Starch: Controls shine and helps keep excess oil at bay
Our Review:
When it comes to eyeshadow, I tend to go towards more neutral colors, which is why I was drawn to this palette. While the colors are neutral, they’re also bright and fun. The product is buildable and doesn’t pack a pigmented punch, but while some see this as a downfall, I kind of love it. You can use this palette to bring your look from day to night by simply building up your subtle colors at the end of the day. If you like simplicity and more modest eyeshadow looks, this is for you.
Loose Brightening Superpowder
Plant-powered ingredients:
-
Mica: Provides skin with a natural shimmery finish and youthful glow
-
Organic Green Tea Extract: Rich in antioxidants and works to rejuvenate the skin
Our Review:
I use this powder to set and bake, and it’s kind of amazing. The powder itself smells really clean and is super soft, and it sets really well, too. I’ve noticed I get less oily throughout the day when I use this powder, which I really like. The only downfall I’ve found is that, like other setting powders, it leaves a white sheen that can be seen in flashback. If you plan on using this at night for an event with flash photography, I wouldn’t recommend it.
