Is Caraway Cookware Worth The Hype? We Tested Them Out

Caraway Cookware is probably not a new name for you. The aesthetically pleasing, modern pots and pans have been all over social media and featured in Refinery29, Food & Wine Magazine, and PopSugar. Caraway says, “We’re on a mission to craft well-designed home goods that thoughtfully raise the standards of what you cook with. Simply put, our products are designed to make your life easier and healthier.”

So you’re probably wondering, “How can cookware make my life healthier? What’s so special about it?”

Caraway’s pots and pans, unlike other non-stick options, aren’t made with toxic materials like PFAS, PTFE, and PFOA. Typically once non-stick cookware is heated to 500ºF it can start releasing toxic chemicals into your food and your home. Caraway cookware is manufactured in special factories that have strict processes to protect both the workers and the environment. Their cookware actually produces 60% less CO2 into the environment when manufacturing compared to traditional non-stick coatings, giving Caraway major bonus points!

On another health note, Caraway cookware is made from ceramic, meaning it requires less oil or butter when cooking and it actually makes cleaning the pots and pans a lot easier. On top of all of this, the brand still goes one step further — they strive to be better not only for you, but for the planet as well. In addition to their ethical manufacturing practices, they also use sustainable packaging. They use recycled cardboard in their packaging and never use single-use plastics.

And no, they still didn’t stop there! Their cookware comes with cork rivets to help protect your counter from the heat when you need to move a pan off the stove or out of the oven, but don’t worry — these are actually biodegradable. Basically, everything about this brand is ethical and planet-friendly, so we’re obviously obsessed. We gave into the hype and tried this cookware set out so we can give you our honest review!

I’ve had the Caraway Cookware set for about 7 months now and it’s honestly changed my life. When you first see this aesthetically pleasing cookware set it’s hard not to click through and explore. As someone who likes to keep their kitchen appliances and cookware matching, this modern set was something I’ve dreamed about.

Don’t get me wrong — I was a little shocked when I saw the price tag, but after a few days of researching I decided to just go for it. Their return policy states, “If you are not totally satisfied with your purchase, we’ll get you set up with a full refund or exchange within 30 days of receipt” which is always reassuring!

I ordered the Ceramic Cookware Set which comes with a fry pan, saucepan, saute pan, a dutch oven, magnetic pan racks, and a canvas lid holder. Once I unwrapped them I instantly wanted to try them out but I wanted to learn more about cooking and care with them. Their website has a full section on this to help you keep your pots and pans in tip top shape!

Some helpful tips to know from this section:

– Caraway cookware can hold heat more efficiently than traditional pans, so use pans on low to medium heat when cooking. Overheating can wear away the non-stick coating.
– Avoid oil sprays or cooking aerosols. Instead, use butter or liquid-based oils to best preserve the slick coating.
– Utensils with rough edges will damage your non-stick coating, so stick to soft wooden, silicone, plastic or nylon products. Avoid using metal entirely. Always be sure to cut or dice food on a separate surface and not inside your pan.

Cooking with these pans was definitely a learning curve — when they say non-stick they really aren’t kidding! The first thing I made was eggs over medium. I broke out my rubber spatula and began cooking. Once it came time to flip I had to chase the egg around the pan to try and get my spatula underneath; it took me a few tries but eventually I got the hang of it! Once I was ready to plate I just tilted the pan and my egg came right out — no hassle and mess-free. The pan itself looked clean and had no residue or brown spots like my old cookware.

7 months down the line and my cookware still looks the same as the day I received it in the mail. I’ve since gotten rid of my old pots and pans to make more space in my cabinets for other things. This set gives me everything I need! The magnetic pan racks and canvas lid holder also make my cabinets less cluttered and more organized, which I absolutely love.

Cooking is a breeze and I no longer have to let my pans sit in soapy water to get excess residue off — I can just take a small amount of soap and water and wipe them clean after each use. I don’t even need to put them in my dishwasher, which is a blessing. I would definitely recommend this set for so many reasons. If you are still hesitant because of the hefty price tag, don’t worry — Caraway has a try before you buy program. You can order free of charge and once you receive the product you have 7 days to decide if they’re for you or not, and you only pay for the products you decide to keep.
