Let’s talk work totes. First of all, you shouldn’t settle for something just because it’s ergonomic — you should be able to have both fashion and function in a bag. After a whole year of working from home, people are just heading back to the office — between work commutes and the endless stuff you have to schlep from your makeshift home office to your work desk, you’re going to need a work bag that fits it all. We put together a list of bags that are gorgeous yet practical, so if you do have to go back to the office, you can at least go back in style!
You don’t have to carry around your usual black bag to look professional. This durable tote will last a lifetime thanks to its organic canvas material, stopping wear and tear in its tracks. At the same time, coated Italian leather lining on the bottom makes it water-resistant. It also has a zippered pouch and open pocket, so you can store anything you need for the day.
If you need to bring multiple things to work, one work bag probably won’t do it. This tote is huge, but with a zipper closure and two interior slip pockets, you won’t be scrounging around for your chapstick. And how much sweeter can you get than by adding a monogram, so no one mistakes your bag for their own?
If you’re super organized, the Alex Laptop Bag Set is for you. Not only is it big enough to fit a long day of work’s worth, it comes with an envelope sleeve to carry anything else you may need, like a laptop or files you don’t want crumpled. For an extra $40, you can also turn this set into a crossbody bag, freeing your hands. Oh, and did we mention you can monogram it?
This work bag can be subtle, with either black or beige Italian leather, but I’m personally obsessed with the oxblood color — doesn’t that deep maroon stand out among the rest? Aside from its color and monogram options, the back pocket can also double as a trolley sleeve thanks to a bottom zipper in the back pocket. One less thing to carry? I’ll take it.
Triple compartments are crucial for the bad-ass business person, and this bag fits the bill. Unlike the previous totes, this work bag comes with drop straps AND a crossbody strap. Its main compartment has one zip pocket, an accessories pocket, and a padded compartment specifically for laptops, all kept together by a magnetic closure.
Looking for a sustainable work bag? This one is made from recycled polyester. The design on the front is striking, standing out as you walk into any room. It has an interior zipper pocket and one slit pocket, and it can also hold a 13” laptop. Despite its smaller size compared to the aforementioned totes, it’s up to par with every business person’s standards.
If you prefer a unique bag with fun details, this work tote is for you. Featuring a knotted design on each side where the handles meet the bags, it’s a playful version of the classic tote bag. It comes in three shades, though the ivory showcases the knots better than the black and brown. It doesn’t have separated compartments, but its structured, boxy shape holds what you need.
Eighteen colors? Yep, you read that right. The Daisy Rose Tote comes in so many colors and patterns, you might have trouble choosing which one you want. (So buy multiple if you can’t decide on just one — I won’t judge.) The PU-vegan leather tote also comes with a matching clutch, so personal items don’t take up room inside the three interior pockets or one zippered pocket.
Quilting is a weakness of mine — to me, it screams “stylish.” This travel tote comes in five colors, from black to royal blue to blush pink, but the quilting remains the star of the bag…aside from its space (it has five pockets, including space for a 17” laptop). Rose-gold hardware and a satin interior lining make this tote chic from the inside out while remaining functional.
As implied by the name, this work bag was made with your laptop in mind. Not just your standard, small MacBook Air — it’ll carry that 17” laptop like a champ. My first favorite part: it has a removable insert, so you won’t be rummaging through it for minutes. My second favorite part: it has a space on the outside to slide your suitcase handle through, so you don’t have to lug it around on your shoulder while you’re on the go.
This laptop bag is super affordable, but it doesn’t skimp out on space. Its biggest draw: how many compartments it has. I’m not kidding: there’s one main padded pocket design for a 15” laptop, two open big pockets, one large zipped pocket, one iPad pocket, two slot pockets, two pens pocket, and one small zipper pocket. You’ll never need another bag.
This laptop bag fits a 15” laptop in a padded pocket, with two pockets for personal items, chargers, files…you name it, it can fit. The four color options are all made with vegan material, so they’re extremely durable and look gorgeous, too. The handles are adjustable, so whether you like to secure your bag over your shoulder or let it hang low, you have options for comfort. The fringe accessory is a cute bonus.
This bag has space. Like, 16″W x 13″H x 6″D space. While the inside doesn’t have compartments, you can still organize your things thanks to a removable, zip-up pouch that’s also roomy (11″W x 8 ½”H x ½”D). It’s made from pebbled faux leather but won’t chafe your skin, and the brown cognac color adds more interest than your standard black work bag.
Yes, you can go with black…but pastel pink? It’s hard to pass on that. (Elle Woods certainly wouldn’t!) Regardless, this work bag isn’t too small or too big, and it can carry a smaller laptop or iPad. It doesn’t have interior pockets or compartments, but as long as you’re not carrying an excess amount of things, it’ll fit what you need. It also has the Ted Baker embossed logo, so people won’t constantly stop to ask where you snagged it.
Last, but most certainly not least, Madewell’s Transport Tote has a slight slouch to it, giving it that effortless-but-still-dressed-up vibe. There are three colors to choose from, all of which are made with semi-vegetable-stained leather. Some cool info: each bag will look slightly different because they’re made from natural material, so even if your coworker has this bag too, they won’t be total dupes of each other.
