I Tried YoursApp, And Now I Look Forward To Meditating

I don’t think there is a single person alive today who couldn’t benefit from adding more mindful activities to their lifestyle.

Everyone practices and experiences mindfulness differently. You might find the time that you’re most in tune with your emotions is when you’re cleaning or doing a household task. Others find their mindful moments in times of self-care. I feel the most mindful and stable when I’m exercising.

I think one of the most interesting aspects of mindfulness is that it looks different for everyone. Every single person has a different relationship with their mental well-being and they have different ways to unwind. What works for you might not work for me and vice versa.

Thankfully, there are so many wonderful tools to help everyone find their perfect practice.

I’ve relied on meditation apps for a while now and I swear by them every chance I get.

The thing about mental health and healing is that it’s not linear. People can have wonderful days, weeks, or months and then one small thing throws them completely off and their mental health is shot.

I suffer from PTSD, panic and anxiety disorders, and other mental health issues that make everyday activities hard and sometimes impossible. I’ve found myself reaching for my meditation apps and CBD on multiple occasions when I’m out and about and I need a little mental health pick-me-up.

I love mental health apps, particularly because your phone is always with you. You can be driving and hooked up to Bluetooth, walking with your AirPods, or even in a grocery store having a small meltdown because grocery shopping can be ridiculously stressful.

I’ve found that having a meditation app literally in your back pocket at all times is like having a secret weapon against anxiety. Anxiety and troubles still might come out and plague you, but you can fight back and defend yourself much more easily when you have the necessary tools at your disposal.

This week, I was introduced to a new meditation app that quickly became one of the best ones I’ve ever used.

YoursApp is a treat that everyone deserves. Whether you need an unguided timed meditation that simply encourages you to rest, a more structured and targeted meditation that can help you get to the root of your problems, yoga practices to infuse into your wellness practice, or sleep meditations that will transport you to other lands, Yours appeals to everyone’s different needs and desires. The current pricing of a YoursApp subscription ranges from $5/month to $10/month. You can get YoursApp with 50% off right here.

One thing I love about this app is how structured the meditations are.

I’m a flighty person. I think of forty things in one minute and my to-do list is always getting written and rewritten in my head. The second silence envelops me is the second I start to think of things to fill it with. But these meditations didn’t get drowned out by my thoughts, as many of them tend to do.

Some meditations required movement and breathwork while others went along with an activity. I loved these because I so often will zone out and forget I’m even doing a meditation if the guidance has been quiet for a while.

You can tailor your meditation to suit the mood you’re in, what you need help with, and the time you want to dedicate to your practice each session.

If you’re just looking for some background music to play while you work, the app has that, too.

The app also has a personalized daily check-in that you can complete every morning. After you check in, the app will provide you with tailor-made suggestions as to what meditations and practices might benefit you the most that day. You don’t have to do those specific meditations, but it does help further center you on your journey and hone in on what your emotions and mind are telling you needs attention. Sometimes, just answering a few questions on an app is all you need to check in with your spirit and take stock of where your head and heart are for the day.

Yours also has other exercises to help you further tailor your meditation to your personal needs. You can take movement classes, experience sound healing (yes, please!), or choose meditations and movements for students, teens, pre and postnatal women, and children.

As I continued to explore the app, I realized just how much it had to offer. Even in the sections that I didn’t identify with (like student, teen, and prenatal), I found myself bookmarking exercises.

I think the aspect I love the most about YoursApp is that the possibilities are endless. I’m not the kind of girl who can just sit down and listen to herself breathe for 30 minutes. But I am the kind of girl who wants to learn about the world and herself through meditation. While there are plenty of meditations on this app that just let you breathe, there is also so much room for growth and learning infused into each meditation and practice as well.

If you’ve been searching for a little bit of mindfulness in your day and you’re not sure how to find it, I would genuinely suggest YoursApp – and again, you can get 50% off here!

I fully believe that if everyone practiced mindfulness in some way, shape, or form every day, we’d all be better for it. We’re constantly moving, shaking, and going and we often are so in our heads that we can’t stop to breathe.

I’ve been practicing mindfulness and meditation for three years now and it’s truly changed my life. I’m far from a mindfulness expert and I do often get caught up in life, but it’s a good grounding technique to come back to when you’ve gotten a little ahead of yourself.
