Mark Cuban Launched An Online Pharmacy That Makes Prescriptions Actually Affordable

If you live in the U.S., you’re definitely aware of the exorbitant prices we have to pay for some prescription drugs. 

Many people choose to order their drugs from pharmacies in Canada that sell lower cost prescription medications. While that is a better option than paying full price, it comes with drawbacks. And the latest venture Cuban’s got under his belt? A new direct-to-consumer company, Cost Plus Drugs, which offers over 100 generic prescription medications at big discounts. Their slogan is: “No middlemen. No price games. Huge drug savings.”

Cuban says, “Everyone should have safe, affordable medicines with transparent prices.”

His vision seems to be making a big difference because Cost Plus Drugs and Mark Cuban trended on Twitter with rave reviews.

One user wrote, “Mark Cuban is gonna make me cry, he really doin what rich people should be doing with their money, connections, and resources.” Another tweet said, “Wow. I take this prescription medicine that costs $360/90 days at Pharmacy. Medicare picks up a portion so my cost goes down to $142/90 days. Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs price, without insurance? $10/90 days.”

Cuban tweeted that they won’t spend any money on marketing, asking the social media world to help the company spread the word – which allows the company to price at low costs.  

How Cost Plus Drugs Works

Although you’ll need to get a new prescription from your doctor or provider, the site is easy to navigate and you can easily place an order for the medication you need. 

The site posted this letter about their mission:

Many people are spending crazy amounts of money each month just to stay healthy. No American should have to suffer or worse—because they can’t afford basic prescription medications.

“The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company takes these problems head on.

“Every product we sell is priced exactly the same way: our cost plus 15%, plus the pharmacy fee, if any. When you get your medicine from Cost Plus Drug Co., you’ll always know exactly how we arrived at the price you pay. And as we grow and our costs go down, we will always pass those savings on to you!”

The billionaire started this company in an attempt to rattle the drug industry and to try to put a stop to absurd drug prices.

Cuban says they’ll soon be making medications at “A state of the art pharmaceutical facility in Dallas, Texas where we’ll produce our own high-quality medicines at the lowest possible prices.”
