How To Make Self Care Easy And Not A Hassle

What is a person without self care? Self care is such an important component of your life that you may be unrecognizable without it. Finding that me-time to care for yourself and recharge should be, in an ideal world, a non-negotiable part of your routine.

However, this doesn’t mean that you should exhaust yourself to practice self care. Self care should be enjoyable – it shouldn’t feel like a chore or just another box to check off on your to-do list.

With that in mind, we’ve put together some practical tips to help you practice self care without making it a hassle.

1. Eat Right But Stay Flexible

Practicing holistic self care means taking care of your whole body instead of just focusing on one aspect, like skincare, or mental health.

And when it comes to taking care of your body, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Probably your diet. The food you eat is the primary source of energy for your physical strength, and it even does things like boost your immune system.

Start making the right eating choices when you want to make self-care easy for you instead of a hassle. However, one thing you should be mindful of is that eating right doesn’t mean you have to be a perfectionist about it.

For example, go ahead and treat yourself to that piece of cake you’ve been craving! Make healthy eating choices, but also adopt a flexible approach to enjoy the sweet things in life.

2. Fix What’s Not Right In Your Routine

Believe it or not, creating a good routine can go a long way to improving your self care habits. And, to be honest, we pretty much agree with that. This means that what you do and how you do it on a daily basis is directly proportional to the results you’ll see over time

So, if you are someone who wants to enjoy your self-care and turn it into something enjoyable, it’s important to work on it regularly, bit by bit, and make it habitual. This way, you will be able to stick to your habits in the long run instead of the short term.

Take, for example, your sleep cycle, which is very important to maintain your brain’s health and avoid inconveniences like brain fog and unclear thinking.

When you start sleeping regularly, at a fixed time, your body will ultimately start complying with the schedule, and it will become easier for you to maintain a healthy sleep cycle in the long run.

The same goes for self care – as you start regularly incorporating times for self care into your routine, you’ll get used to it, and it won’t feel like a chore.

3. Adopt Some Healthy Habits

Since we’ve just talked about fixing your routine, there’s something else you should be mindful of – habits you regularly engage in.

Take, for example, journaling your thoughts, knowing when to stop using digital screens, keeping up with your hygiene, making the bed every time you wake up from a good night’s sleep, etc.

When made a permanent part of your lifestyle, these habits ultimately transform the health and standard of your life. Try adopting one good habit to start, and as you get used to that one, add more in. Taking baby steps is key here – slow and steady wins the race!

4. Always Look For Workable Alternatives

As mentioned earlier, you are supposed to take care of your body to practice self-care. But eating right alone would bring you no good unless you couple it with other physical wellness practices.

Let’s say you want to keep your posture, muscle stiffness, or flexibility in check. Healthy eating alone can’t do this – other forms of physical self care are necessary.

This doesn’t mean you necessarily have to become a gym person in order to get your desired results. There isn’t one “right way” to take care of your physical body. Try and explore different workout routines, ways of movement, and exercises to see what you enjoy and what doesn’t feel like a chore.

You can also explore other options, like using personal care products that are easy to use yet bring effective results and easily cater to your wellness needs.
