Our Review Of The Tabu Kit: Nothing Taboo About Pleasure

Another month, another personal massager — which is fancy speak for a vibrator — for me to test out. I’m not complaining at all; you can send me ALL the personal massagers and vibrators and I’ll try them.

What’s the worst that can happen? Did I sprain my clitoris? I’m not Googling if that’s even possible, and I’ll take my chances.

Tabu was kind enough to send us The Kit and it arrived in beautiful yet discreet packaging.

It is billed as “A new take on a guilty healthy pleasure” and I was excited to open it up and take it for a spin.

What Is The Kit And How Is It Different?

For starters, The Kit is groundbreaking because it’s designed for older women who are going through or have gone through menopause.

“Months before my 30th birthday, I was surprised to find myself talking to my mom about sex for the first time,” says Natalie Waltz, Founder & CEO of Tabu.

“Use it or lose it,” her mom said, as she opened up about the physical and emotional challenges of sex and menopause.

“From the lack of adequate solutions to the taboo notion that us women – like men – may want to preserve this part of our lives as we age, I quickly realized that something had to change.

“I started Tabu for our moms, aunts, friends, and future selves. Our mission is to honor and celebrate sexual wellness as we age,” Waltz explains

What Comes In The Kit

“In partnership with clinicians, therapists, and (most importantly) women like you, we made The Kit,” explains Tabu

“Featuring a lightweight, discreet massager and organic, healing lubricant, The Kit is designed to help you confidently kick off and maintain your sexual wellness routine.”

Their soft touch personal massager is ergonomically designed with three speeds, making it comfortable and easy to use. The massager is waterproof and is made with 100% medical grade silicone, making it perfect for both external and internal use.

It also features an optional warming system to help users stimulate blood flow to the vaginal area.

The organic lubricant is made with active botanicals and is formulated to nourish, heal, and repair.

“Its powerful antioxidants protect against damaging free radicals that cause aging – activating your body’s natural defense mechanisms to help it regenerate your vaginal tissues. The formula is rich in omega-6 essential fatty acids to protect from dryness and plant-based anti-inflammatories to soothe and calm your most sensitive areas,” according to Tabu

The Tabu Review

After the unboxing, inspection of the products, and thoroughly reading the instructions, I was ready to charge up the personal massager. I had a hard time with the USB cord but only out of fear that I would damage the vibrator. The plug is embedded in the silicone and you have to really jam it in there. It reminded me of the David Cronenberg film Existenz, where they “jacked” into living pods through a cord plugged into their necks. Yes, this is a niche reference, and no, you don’t have to Google it as it’s not important.

The charging commenced and while waiting for it to get up to speed, I read the ingredients for the personal lubricant.

It’s water-based and made from organic aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, and natural plant extracts. Full disclosure: I did not use the lube, as I have very strict rules about what goes near or in my vagina due to a doctor dad telling me that the only thing you should use in that area is soap.

I’m quite sure the lubricant is lovely and safe, but as someone who is extremely paranoid about what goes into or around my vag, I’m not going to chance throwing my hypochondriasis into overdrive. I wish I’d been this paranoid about the dicks I’ve let enter that area but hindsight is 20/20!

The massager was ready for use so I tested out the three different speeds (low, medium, and high) as well as the warming feature on my hand before going down under.

The Verdict: Yes, Yes, Yes!

The silicone design is light and easy to hold, and its flexible material makes it really easy to manipulate into different positions.

I tested it out for realsies and I will spare you the details, but I will give it a 10/10. It got the job done and did it well. The only thing I didn’t like was the warming feature – it made me worry that the massager was overheating and about to go up in flames and take my crotch with it. Again, it’s a feature that a lot of women would like, but it’s just not for me!

We highly recommend The Kit and thank you Tabu for sending one our way!
