Bridgerton Season 2 Is Almost Here! Here’s What To Know Before You Binge It

Dearest Readers,

Bridgerton season two is nearly here and, already, the anticipation has me distracted beyond belief! As an avid fan of both the novels and shows, I am not sure if I will make it to the March 25th premiere. There’s no wonder why this phenomenon of a show is so popular — the cast and writing are sheer perfection! As the queen would say, “Flawless, my darling.”

For those who may not follow the show, or be familiar with the book series, written by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton is a hit Netflix original series based in the Regency period of 1811. Both the book series and the show follow the Bridgerton family, and each season and novel focuses on a different sibling and their love life. There are eight siblings in total, and season one followed the eldest daughter, Daphne Bridgerton, while being courted to find her romantic match.

These are not your average cheesy time piece love stories! The writing in both the series and novels have me both laughing hysterically as well as gasping in anger. Their ability to follow a variety of characters — so intimately and simultaneously — strings together a story that doesn’t feel forced. It is sheer perfection. Season one of the show had me addicted within 45 seconds. It feels like a mix of Pride & Prejudice and Gossip Girl, which was the odd pairing my soul needed. I binge watched those episodes so quickly, and immediately felt the sadness of it being all over for me. Bless the fact that season two is practically here.

Season two will follow the story of the eldest brother, Anthony Bridgerton, in his painful quest to find his one true love. We left Anthony in season one, heartbroken from being left by his love, opera singer Siena. Their love was not meant to be, due to his high society status and her not being proper, in society’s eyes.

After Anthony’s father died when he was just a boy, he became the “man of the house” quite quickly, a role he took seriously. He needed to find a match more suited for him, despite his feelings for her. When he decided to put his own happiness above society’s demands and be with Siena, she moved on and he was left alone.

Don’t be too sad for poor Anthony, though — fate has better cards for him. He meets a witty and sharp woman by the name of Kate, and their unlikely friendship has you guessing how this will end for them during the entirety of book two.

I can’t wait to see how Netflix creates their take on the storyline in their latest installment, premiering March 25th. So grab your fanciest tea set, your finest regency gown, and settle in for what will be a dramatic second season!
