I had the pleasure of speaking to Alana, the CEO of The Standard Stitch, and this is what I learned:

Every decision is made with the people and planet in mind.

The Standard Stitch is on a mission to make ethical and inclusive clothing welcoming, relatable, and accessible for everyone. This includes carrying sizes XS through 5X.

The company practices a localized supply chain. The entire production process is based in Los Angeles, which promotes transparency and traceability. The supply chain also supports the local community and reduces the travel of a garment, which is very important to the company.

From producing the fabric to packaging the final garment, the clothing only travels 10.3 miles.

All garments are dyed using non-toxic, low impact dyes. All trims attached to the garment, and packaging used to ship the garment are made of recycled, organic, or recyclable material.

A core aspect of their mission is to close the loop by asking questions like: “How do we make new things through reusing waste to minimize harmful impact?”

When I tell you I’m obsessed with their color palette, I mean obsessed. Alana shared with me that many plus-size brands offer very neutral, dark colorways and she wanted to offer something unique, fun, earthy, and welcoming for everyone. Their yummy color palette truly speaks to their sustainable mission. After all, sustainability is versatility. I think the color palette is just perfect — it elevates their simple and staple silhouettes, and it’s interchangeable and beautiful all year round! Without further ado, here are my favorite pieces!
The Vintage Tank
This is THE perfect tank for spring and summer days! You’re going to see muscle tanks everywhere really soon (and they are staple essentials) so why not invest in one that has a positive impact? This fit is also perfectly loose so you can wear it tucked in, knotted, or just as is! This is a tank you can rock for lady’s brunch AND over your sports bra for a workout.
The Relaxed V
Every girl needs a relaxed V-neck tee in her closet. This one is made of 50% organic cotton and 50% recycled cotton for a soft, cool touch and feel. This is a tee you can easily dress up with a captain’s hat or dress down with a baseball cap. The colorways will also pair well with denim jeans of any wash.
The Classic Jogger
This classic fit makes this jogger a must-have for the lazy days. Just kidding, a high-quality piece like this is something I would be proud to wear out of the house! Plus, the bright colors make it so fun and suitable for a hangout with my friends, especially paired with fresh white sneakers. I am in LOVE with the color Golden.
The Boxy Crew
Admittedly, I’m not someone who owns a ton of basics but this crewneck tee really drew me in. I have trouble finding t-shirts that have the perfect boxy cut for my small frame. However, this boxy crew checks off all the boxes. The drop shoulders hit at the perfect length and it’s super flattering.
The Long Sleeve Tee
This long sleeve tee is one of my favorites because I’m going to be reaching for it ALL year! In spring or summer, you can create a really chic silhouette by rolling up the sleeves, tucking it into a floral midi skirt and finishing with large accessories. The drop shoulders and loose fit also make it great for loungewear and more casual looks.
The College Sweatshirt
This relaxed sweater is The Standard Stitch best-seller! No surprise here. This part recycled, part organic top is perfect to lounge in all day and night! I would style it similarly to the long sleeve tee but elevate it with combat boots for a trendy, edgy look with the perfect touch of casual. You can also create a smart look with chunky chain loafers. How cute would this clay colorway be with gold accessories?!
