These 7 Holiday Cocktails Will Help You Sleigh Your Next Happy Hour

Holiday happy hour, anyone? When my family gets together for Christmas, my mom always seems to have a selection of carefully curated cocktails at the ready. I walk in the door and she greets me with “Hi, honey, can I make you a drink?” (Yes, Alice, you always can).

We’ve already talked about the classic holiday adult beverages like mulled wine and hot toddies, but what about a good holiday cocktail? Here are our 7 favorite recipes guaranteed to help you sleigh your next happy hour!

Rudolph’s Tipsy Spritzer

Ingredients

  •  2 ½ cups orange juice, chilled
  •  2 ½ cranberry juice, chilled
  •  2 cups Ginger ale, 7UP or Sprite, chilled
  •  2 cups vodka (chilled)
  •  1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice, chilled
  • Juice of one large lemon (about 1/4 cup)
  • Cranberries or maraschino cherries and rosemary sprigs (optional garnish)

Directions

  1. In a larger pitcher or punch bowl combine all of the ingredients (leave out vodka if you want non-alcoholic version)
  2. Stir well.
  3. Serve over ice and garnish with cranberries or maraschino cherries and a rosemary sprig.

*To make single servings, use the following measurements:
  • 2 oz of each juice
  • 1.5 oz of soda 
  • 1.5 oz of vodka
  • splash of maraschino cherry juice
  • splash of lemon juice

White Christmas Margarita Pitcher

Ingredients

  • 18 oz. coconut milk (in can)
  • 6 oz. coconut water
  • 6 oz. grand marnier
  • 9 oz. silver tequila
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons agave syrup
  • garnish: fresh or frozen cranberries, lime slices and rosemary sprigs

Directions

  1. To a large pitcher add full fat coconut milk, coconut water, grand marnier, silver tequila, lime juice and agave syrup. Using a whisk stir everything together until coconut milk no longer separates.
  2. Serve these holiday cocktails over ice.
  3. Garnish with fresh cranberries, lime slices and rosemary sprig.


Gingerbread White Russian

Ingredients

  • 4 T. Kahlua
  • 3 T. milk or half-&-half
  • 1 ½ T. vanilla vodka
  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • small pinch ground cloves
  • small pinch ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Place vodka, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in a cocktail glass; stir until combined.
  2. Add Kahlua and then milk; stir. Add ice.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or gingerbread cookie, if desired.

Peppermint Bailey’s Christmas Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. Original Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1 oz. Smirnoff Peppermint Vodka
  • Ice
  • Sprinkle of Cinnamon

Directions

  1. Pour Bailey’s, Vodka, and ice into a shaker.  Shake it baby!
  2. Pour into a lowball glass (rocks glass) filled with ice.  Sprinkle cinnamon on top.  Cheers!


Jingle Juice Holiday Punch

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750ml) Whipped Vodka
  • 1 bottle Pink Champagne or Sparkling Rosé
  • (2 liter) bottle Cherry 7-up
  • Cranberries for garnish

Directions

  1. In a punch bowl or large pitcher filled with ice, combine all of the ingredients.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Serve over ice and garnish with cranberries.

White Chocolate Peppermint Martini

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces white chocolate liqueur
  • 1.5 ounces vanilla vodka
  • 1 ounce creme de cacao (clear/white)
  • 1 ounce half and half
  • .5 ounce peppermint schnapps
  • White chocolate syrup and crushed peppermints to garnish

Directions

  1. Begin making these holiday cocktails by preparing your martini glass. Rim the edge of the glass with white chocolate syrup; then dip it into crushed peppermint candies or crushed candy canes. Set glass aside.
  2. Add the white chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, creme de cacao, half and half, and peppermint schnapps to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and then strain into your prepared martini glass.


Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Bourbon Whiskey
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 4 tsp Maple Syrup
  • 2 tsp Simple Syrup
  • ¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 Maraschino Cherries
  • 3 tbsp Turbinado Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Water

Directions

  1. Add Turbinado sugar and water into a cup and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add 1 cup of crushed ice into the cocktail shaker. Pour all ingredients into the shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Pour into whiskey glass with 1 large ice cube.
  3. Add Maraschino Cherries (optional) and serve.
