Let’s be honest, no one really has enough time to make an Instagram-worthy breakfast every day. While we’d love to sit for hours and eat endless homemade pastries, breakfast is usually just a bowl of cereal or a bagel, grabbed as you’re running out the door. 

But breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so we’re supplying you with the easiest 5-minute breakfast ideas that will start your morning off sunny-side-up. Too cheesy? Oh well!

Peanut Butter Overnight Oats

Ingredients

Oats: 

  • ½ cup milk

  • ¾ Tbsp chia seeds

  • 2 Tbsp peanut or almond butter

  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup

  • ½ cup rolled oats

Toppings:

  • Sliced banana, strawberries, or raspberries

  • Granola

  • Flaxseed meal or additional chia seeds

Directions

1. Add the milk, chia seeds, peanut butter, and maple syrup to a mason jar or a small bowl with a lid and stir. The peanut butter doesn’t need to be completely mixed with the almond milk. 

2. Add the oats and stir a few more times. Press the oats down with a spoon to ensure all the oats are immersed in the almond milk.

3. Cover securely with a lid or seal it, then refrigerate it overnight (at least 6 hours). 

4. In the morning, open and enjoy. Garnish with the desired toppings.


5-Minute Protein Breakfast Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 English muffin (toasted)

  • ¼ cup black beans (drained and rinsed)

  • Pinch of chili powder

  • Pinch of garlic powder

  • ¼ avocado

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ oz. cheddar cheese (grated)

  • Hot sauce 

  • Salt and pepper

Directions

1. Toast the English muffin. 

2. Whisk the egg in a bowl and microwave on high for 65 seconds. Remove the egg and fold it into a circle shape the size of the muffin. Top with cheese and microwave for another 15 seconds. 

3. Mash the black beans with chili powder, garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. 

4. Spread the black beans on the English muffin and top with the avocado. Place the hot cheesy egg on top of the avocado and season with salt and pepper. Add a dash of hot sauce.


French Toast in a Mug

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup whole milk 

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp cinnamon 

  • 1 Tbsp butter (softened)

  • 4 slices sandwich bread (cubed)

  • 1 Tbsp (per mug) mini chocolate chips, dried tart cherries, raisins, and chopped pecans

  • Powdered sugar and maple syrup for serving

Directions

1. Whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon together in a large glass measuring cup. Set aside. 

2. Lightly grease the inside of 4 microwave-safe mugs with softened butter. Divide half of the bread between the mugs. Top the bread with half of the toppings. Repeat the layering with the remaining bread and toppings.

3. Gently pour the milk mixture over the top of each mug, dividing evenly between cups. 

4. Microwave each mug on high for about 1 minute and 15 seconds or until the milk mixture is set. 

5. Serve warm with powdered sugar and maple syrup.


Berry Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 3-4 frozen bananas 

  • ⅓ cup frozen blueberries

  • ⅓ cup frozen raspberries

  • 2 Tbsp peanut butter powder

  • ¼ cup cashew milk 

  • Granola

  • Fresh blueberries

Directions

1. Place the frozen fruits, milk, and peanut butter powder in a blender and blend until smooth. 

2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and add whatever toppings you’d like.


Matcha Green Tea No-Bake Energy Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)

  • 4 Tbsp almond flour 

  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup 

  • 1 Tbsp coconut oil 

  • 1 Tbsp matcha green tea

Directions

1. Blend everything together in a food processor. 

2. Shape into 1-inch balls and enjoy!


5-Minute Savory Microwave Breakfast Mug

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bread pieces 

  • ¼ cup pre-cooked chopped sausage

  • ¼ cup pre-chopped vegetables

  • 2 Tbsp shredded cheese

  • 1 Tbsp butter

  • 3 Tbsp milk

  • 1 large egg

  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Directions

1. Tear or cut the bread into ½ – inch pieces. Chop the meat and vegetables into small pieces and shred the cheese.

2. Add the butter to the bottom of a large mug and microwave on high for 20 seconds or until it’s fully melted. Whisk in the milk, egg, salt, and pepper with a fork. 

3. Stir the meat, vegetables, and cheese into the milk and egg mixture first, then gently fold in the bread cubes until they’re fully saturated. 

4. Let the mug sit for one minute to fully absorb the liquid, then microwave on high for about 90 seconds or until the center is solid and it has begun to pull away from the mug around the edges. Serve hot.


Five-Minute Breakfast Burrito

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)

  • ¼ cup baby spinach 

  • 1 Tbsp salsa

  • 1 flour tortilla

  • 2 Tbsp shredded cheddar cheese

  • Coarse kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

1. Coat a small skillet lightly with olive oil or cooking spray and set it over medium heat. When the pan is warm, add the eggs and spinach and cook. Stir until the eggs are soft but fully cooked and the spinach is wilted, about 2 minutes. 

2. Remove the food from the heat and stir in the salsa. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Heat the wrap in the microwave for about 10 seconds until warm. Spread the cheese evenly along the center of the warm tortilla and top with egg mixture. Fold in the sides of the wrap and roll it tightly from the bottom. Serve immediately.
