Betty White Is A National Treasure With Quotes We Can All Learn From

betty white quotes

Betty White has been an entertainment icon for the past 80 years, and we all have a lot to learn from her long-lasting career. She also just celebrated her 99th birthday on January 17th! In the past eight decades, Betty White has shared so much of her wisdom with the world, so here are 8 life lessons from our favorite sassy star.

“Everybody needs a passion. That’s what keeps life interesting. If you live without passion, you can go through life without leaving any footprints.”

Coming from someone who has been in the entertainment industry since she was 17, Betty White reminds us that it is important to love what you do. It’s easy to feel like you’re living the same day over and over again, but it’s just as easy to make time for fun. Pick up a new hobby in your free time, start your own blog, redecorate your home — get yourself out of that slump! Mix up your daily routine or listen to a new radio station, find passions in little controllable ways. You don’t want to live your life without loving it.

“I’m a health nut. My favorite food is hot dogs with French fries. And my exercise: I have a two-story house and a very bad memory, so I’m up and down those stairs.”

Eat whatever you want that makes YOU feel good. You are the only advocate for your health and the only person who should give you advice on your eating habits is your doctor.

“Friendship takes time and energy if it’s going to work. You can luck into something great, but it doesn’t last if you don’t give it proper appreciation.”

As you go through life, friendships begin and end. Betty White says that in order to have long-lasting ones — you must put in the work. Don’t let something good go by not giving it the effort it deserves. After 99 years of living, I’d take friendship advice from her any day.

“My mother always used to say, ‘The older you get, the better you get. Unless you’re a banana.”

Getting older can sometimes seem terrifying, frustrating or down-right annoying. But take it from the 99-year-old herself that as you age, you learn and grow. Don’t stress about your age when you can appreciate how much smarter and wiser you’ve become. Society often makes us feel like there’s a ticking time bomb of when your beauty will go away, but it just isn’t true. You’re not a banana — you’ll age like wine!

“Butterflies are like women – we may look pretty and delicate, but we can fly through a hurricane.”

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that women aren’t as tough as men! Gender inequality is still standing strong, but it is so important to believe that you can get through anything. Betty White has always been unapologetic about being a strong woman in the industry and she wants you to feel the same. We may look pretty, but we pack a punch.

“Get at least eight hours of beauty sleep, nine if you’re ugly.”

Here’s a reminder to take care of yourself and get your beauty sleep. On top of that, stay hydrated too! Self-care is a priority.

“You’re never too old for anything.”

Sometimes, especially when having children of your own and growing up, it’s hard to let yourself feel childlike. Betty White encourages us to do what makes us happy and to never feel embarrassed about how old we are. Have that childlike wonder, you’ll never be too old for it.

“I don’t understand how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much.”

In a world where everyone is sharing their opinion on everything 24/7, maybe the key to life is minding your own business. Like Betty White, if it doesn’t affect you, then don’t let it. Golden Girls was controversial for its time, speaking out on issues of diversity and division. In 2020, we need a great reminder to take care of ourselves and stop worrying about everyone else!
