This year’s fall fashion trends are here and we could not be more excited! If you’re anything like me, fall (in California) is your favorite time of the year to dress up. I love my summer clothes, but I also love layers — this season is the perfect time to experiment with both while capturing all the cozy trends. Trends from last year are seeing subtle updates, and our favorite summer silhouettes are being translated into heavier knits *heart eyes*. My favorite part of the trends this year is how wearable and practical they are!

Chunky Loafers

Chunky loafers are the perfect marriage of… well, loafers… and combat boots. It might sound like an odd combination but we love how fun and grungy this shoe is. Dressing like a grandpa is particularly cool this year (read on to find out what I mean), and who knew this aesthetic would look so good?!

*Style tip: Rock chunky loafers with pieces that are traditionally more feminine and tailored for an undeniably cool contrast. Chunky loafers look amazing with high socks and tights, so style this with a mini or midi dress and a cropped jacket.

Knee-High Boots

Yes, this shoe is pretty much a staple and forgive me for being bold but… You. Need. This. Knee-high boots are a classic. This year, though, they’re getting updated with croc-embossed finishes, and we’re also seeing whites, creams, and taupes being popular color options for knee-high boots. So chic and wearable — they match with everything! You can opt for the trendy kitten heel, classic block heel, or sexy stiletto. My personal favorite is the classic block heel because I know I will wear this style every year and it’s more comfortable.

Sweater Vests

Remember when I said dressing like a grandpa is an aesthetic this year? This is what I mean. We’re not talking about just *any* sweater vest. This year, we’re loving oversized V-neck sweater vests that probably won’t do too much to keep you warm, but will have you looking like a trendsetter. The key to rocking a grandpa vest is in the styling and fit.

We were seeing a great selection of loose-fitting trousers in the spring and summer, and this style is being translated to heavier weight fabrics for the fall. This pant style just might have to be my favorite — it’s so flattering on every body type and it’s far more comfortable than the skinny jeans that were around for way too long. Loose-fitting trousers look so effortless and refined, and they pair beautifully with knits.
