Listen, I am the furthest from a morning person. Early for me is 10:30am. Yeah, so I’m not a morning person at all. The thing is, I would be if mornings came with some type of incentive!
If you find yourself running around every morning to get the kids to school in time or scrambling to make it to work, this post is for you. Your mornings may be stressful now, but after including these five habits into your daily routine, they will be so much better. You may even be able to find peace from waking up in the morning.
. . .
-
Get up 30 minutes-1 hour earlier: No matter what time of the day you find yourself waking up, try setting the alarm at least 30 minutes to one hour sooner. That way, you will have more time for yourself if you are a mom who has to get your kids ready for school. And if you’re not, it will add more time for you before going to work or school, which is never a bad thing. Also, if you can’t get up early, you can lay everything out the night before, so you’re not scrambling and looking for everything you need in the morning.

Meditate: We recently made a post about the best meditation apps, which you can find HERE. It’s a proven fact that meditation does calm your body and mind so that you will be in a happier and more relaxed state by the end of your meditation session. There are so many free apps and youtube videos for morning meditations that you can check out — I linked my favorite video above. I have added mediations to my mornings, and I can honestly say that it makes me feel more relaxed the WHOLE day, not just in the morning.

Take a nice shower and light some candles (and play your favorite tunes): This is so peaceful and relaxing. Light your favorite seasonal candles, play your favorite playlist, and immerse yourself in hot water. It’s the best feeling in the world. And if you get up early enough, you can take however long you’d like in the shower without any interruption. You can also try a bath instead of a shower, whichever you’d prefer.

Workout: If you would instead like to start your day off by elevating your heart rate, working out can be the perfect habit to add to your morning routine. Yoga, cardio, weights, whatever you’d like. Youtube has so many videos if your gym is still not open due to COVID, and you can buy some weights online if you’d rather do weightlifting. Here are some of our recommended products:

Brew a cup of your favorite coffee: For me to actually get my butt out of bed, I need some type of reward. And coffee is my reward. Whatever you can think of to reward yourself with every morning, make sure you incorporate it into your morning routine. Maybe it’s breakfast in general that gets you up if you’re a foodie. Or perhaps it’s a fresh cup of hot coffee or getting to wear a new pair of comfy slippers around the house. Whatever it is, make sure to add it in so you have the motivation to get up.
