I’m honestly kind of shocked that I’m writing this article. When the pandemic first hit and I quarantined with my mom, I remember her saying, “I made you two face masks — that should be enough until this is all over”. Joke’s on her — she’s now made me about thirty.
Now, I know that the vaccine is working wonders and so many people are getting it, but it’s unlikely that we’re all going to be comfortable with going out without masks any time soon. And with summer coming up and that hot and sticky air, no one wants to suffer from more maskne than we already have. So let’s look at the best cooling face masks for the summer!
Athleta Face Mask
This mask is literally made to wick away sweat. It’s lightweight and airy, letting you breathe, but also not letting your breath heat up inside the mask. It’s also made to dry sweat when it comes, so you don’t have to worry about sweating through your mask. And the masks are made by an athletic company, so you know they know how to deal with sweat and heat!
Lululemon Face Mask
Another perfect mask for athletics and the summer! This Lululemon face mask is also designed for people who work out, so the way it handles heat is amazing. Not to mention it’s so cute — especially with that classic LuLuLemon design on the side! The smooth Ultralu fabric is quick-drying, sweat-wicking, and super comfortable. The double-strap design also means no more painful straps on your ears!

The first thing I love about this face mask is that they offer different sizes. Masks really aren’t a one-size-fits-all kind of deal and I love that Under Armour gets that! This is another sports-based mask, so it allows you to get your sweat on while also keeping your face cool and dry under the mask. The Polyurethane open-cell foam that is built into the mask lets air through and won’t have you sweating all over the place!
Tie-Back Anthropologie Face Mask Set
I simply could not do a face mask review without at least showing you what these babies look like. I mean, come on. These Anthropologie face masks are stunning. While they aren’t exactly made for sport, they’re a fashion statement made of soft and breathable cotton, so you can still get that breeze. This set of 4 may be the cutest on the list — and they’re currently on sale!
Oura Air Mask
This reusable mask features self-sterilizing technology that literally kills germs. It really is doing the most for you. The fabric is also moisture wicking and water repellant, so you don’t have to worry about anything from sneezes to sweat. Oh, and did I mention it’s deodorizing? It comes with a self-sterilizing travel pouch as well, so when you are eating or in your car, you can put it away without a worry. I swear, I’m renaming this mask “the magic one”.
Roseward 100% Mulberry Silk Face Mask
I use Mulberry silk for my pillows and I have noticed such a difference in my skin. I adore it. This material is naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew — so it will filter all the normal crap out of your way. It also has a filter pocket, so you can add some extra protection as well! Silk does amazing things to and for the skin and it’s so light. I can’t wait to use this one this summer!
While we might not have thought we would be making such bold fashion choices with our face masks this time last year, I always want to look at wearing face masks as another way of expressing myself. Let’s at least have fun with what we wear and try to dress it up as best we can!
