Sally K Ride Quotes That Will Make Your Spirit Soar

Women really can do it all, and we love it when they prove just how amazing and strong they are. Sally Ride was the first American woman who flew into space.

While this is a groundbreaking accomplishment, Ride’s life was far from easy. NASA began looking for women astronauts to join their team in 1977 when Sally Ride was still a student at Stanford University. Even though she had to focus on her studies, she decided to apply for the job and was one of six women chosen.

Ride took her first trip to outer space in 1983, where her job was to work on the robotic arm that helped put satellites in space. She flew back to space for the second time in 1984.

In 1987, Sally Ride left NASA and began teaching at the University of California. Her mission was to empower women to succeed in math and science.

In 2003, Ride was added to the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

To celebrate her accomplishments, we’re reflecting on some of our favorite Sally Ride quotes. Enjoy!
