Want skin that’s smoother than a baby’s bottom? Yeah, we do, too. Baby-soft skin is hard to come by, especially in the winter. Our favorite trick? Body scrubs!
The right body scrub leaves your skin soft, glowy, nourished, and moisturized while offering a gentle cleansing. What’s more, using a scrub is the Taco Tuesday of skin care – which is to say that it’s a delicious experience you’ll want to repeat again and again.
There are a bajillion scrubs on the market, so how do you choose the right one? Especially since all scrubs have similar ingredients: a hydrator, a cleanser, and an abrasive ingredient to slough skin.
What To Look For In The Best Body Exfoliating Scrub
-
If you have dry skin, you’ll want to look for one with a powerful moisturizing agent, like essential oils or a cream base.
-
If you want to exfoliate frequently or have sensitive skin, pick a body scrub with smaller granules. Or you can use large granules to get more intense exfoliation.
-
If you have oily skin, look for scrubs with natural ingredients like oatmeal or lemon.
-
For your face or other acne-prone areas, use a scrub with an active acne-fighting ingredient, like salicylic acid.
-
If your skin is particularly sensitive, look for a gentle, sugar-based exfoliator.

Joon x Moon Whipped Sugar Scrub
I have the Joon x Moon champagne exfoliating cubes and LOVE them. They’re the perfect exfoliant to take on vacay as they don’t count toward your TSA toiletries allotment. I had no idea about the whipped sugar scrub, which uses many of the same ingredients as the cubes. Bonus points for the ultra gorgeous, icing-like product.
Herbivore Coco Rose Exfoliating Body Scrub
I fangirl over Herbivore products, and this body scrub is near the top of the list. Let’s start with the smell — the combination of rose petals, coconut oil, and sugar is decadent and lush. The pretty pink exfoliant feels good, too. The sugar gently exfoliates without being harsh on your skin.
Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish
Arguably the one that started it all, the Fresh Brown Sugar exfoliant promises to keep your skin moisturized for an impressive 24 hours. Oh, and it smells like a lemon drop martini. You’re welcome.
Sunday Rain Exfoliating Cube
These travel-friendly exfoliating cubes gently buff your skin with sugar, while shea butter moisturizes. And they’re the coolest shade of pink, so they’ll look great in your bathroom.

This gluten-free body scrub formula uses glycolic and lactic acids as a body polish — perfect for people who prefer to slough skin without a granular exfoliant.
Pacifica Cocoa Cinnamon Dual Exfoliant
One of my favorite ways to make hot chocolate is to add a pinch of cinnamon to the mix, so I’m super stoked about this scrub by Pacifica. The exfoliant is enriched with cocoa butter, for hydration, and cinnamon, which aids in smoothing the skin.
