Bahhhmaste! My Review of Goat Yoga

Saturday morning I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now. I tried GOAT YOGA! My daughter loves goats and has been wanting to find a place locally to do goat yoga. We have tried to go in the past and the places we tried were always sold out. But she found the cutest little farm in San Juan Capistrano called Goods & Goats Market that holds goat yoga multiple times each week. Since my sister’s birthday was Friday, we made reservations for our whole group and did it as a way to celebrate her birthday.

What a fun and unique experience! We got to the farm a little early, signed in and filled out some waivers and borrowed a mat from them. Pretty soon the class was filled up and they let the baby goats out into the yoga area. The goats are so super cute and friendly, they really loved all the attention they were getting and it’s so interesting to me how they each have their own little personality. Our instructor walked us through some basic yoga poses while the goats jumped and climbed all over us.

Don’t expect an intense yoga session, this was all about the goats. The feeling of them jumping up on your back when you’re in tabletop or downward dog was really crazy. They are babies so they aren’t heavy but their hooves can be sharp and I found myself wishing I had worn a shirt with sleeves or something a little thicker to avoid getting scratched up. But the little goat snuggles were worth it for sure!

If you’re looking for an interesting way to spend some time, a unique idea for date night or something fun to do with your girlfriends, I cannot recommend goat yoga more. Be prepared to get scratched and dirty, but it’s all in good fun. I will definitely be back to goat yoga! Goods & Goats Market has goat yoga every Saturday morning at 9:30 am and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening. They do special date night sessions on select Fridays. Each session is $25 per person although they have packages and there is a Groupon deal available right now for $17.25 per person when you have a group of 4! They also sell handmade goat milk soaps and bath products. So adorable and worth a visit!
