Raise your hand if you’ve shelled out the big bucks for miracle skincare and makeup products…only for them to not be a miracle. (Yep, I’m raising mine.) It’s frustrating as hell to pay good money for something that’s supposed to work, but instead sits in your bathroom half-full until you finally throw it away in frustration.
Jessica Moore and Alexia Inge have also been there. The two decided to total up how much cash they’d paid for beauty products that sat abandoned in their medicine cabinet. “For me, this amounted to just shy of £900 [nearly $1,250],” said Inge. So, she and Jessica decided to do something about it. Together, they founded Cult Beauty, a website filled with beauty products that they believe in. As Inge said, their goal is “to curate a beauty Hall of Fame: our own authoritative treasure trove of products that our customers could trust.”
About Cult Beauty
The brand features a wide variety of products. For example, you’ll find your classic cult brands (think Milk Makeup, THE INKEY LIST, and NARS), but you can also discover centuries-old remedies and up-and-coming makeup brands. The products are chosen based on whether or not they meet the company’s standards, measured by delightful squeals among employees and coveted spots in celebrities’ and makeup artists’ bags. They are also dedicated to transparency – the company lists all ingredients in each product, and they keep every review up.
A UK fav, they’ve introduced thousands of beauty lovers to their new favorite brands. Their website also has a section consisting of ~cult~ favorites based on reviews. These are a few of consumers’ favorites.

Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector
This Olaplex Hair Perfector is perfect for your hair if you are a constant salon-goer. Perfect for brittle hair that regularly breaks, the bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (say that 10 times fast) helps strengthen and repair bonds from heating, bleaching, and excessive dyeing — use it once a week between salon sessions for soft, manageable hair.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting Exfoliant
This exfoliant is filled with everything you need to banish breakouts. It features familiar skincare players, like salicylic acid; science-y but necessary ingredients like methylpropanediol to aid in absorption of the product; and green tea extract, which is packed with antioxidants. Bye, breakouts.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 30
So many sunscreens give you a white film and a greasy finish, but Supergoop!’s stops these issues in their tracks. It only contains clean ingredients (so you won’t have to deal with that floral-ish smell after application), and it’s sweat- and water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. You now have zero reason to pass on the sunscreen thanks to Supergoop!.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish
This finishing powder is the true MVP for all skin types. Avoid the shiny T-zone while still glowing, and take care of any dry spots thanks to the soothing rose wax and almond oil. Ideal for finishing off your look, it won’t make your foundation and concealer look cake-y underneath. We’ll count that as a win.
Natasha Denona Mini Eyeshadow Palette
If you’re looking for fun eyeshadow colors without sacrificing your neutrals, this five- shadow palette has you covered. Choose from seven color combinations to complement your eyes best, with all finishes — metallic, matte, and sparkling — included in this travel-sized case.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner
We wrote an article on why toner is important, and Glow Recipe’s toner embodies exactly why it should be in everyone’s skincare routine. Its clean ingredients (such as watermelon extract and hyaluronic acid) work together to fight inflammation and hydrate, which will…make you glow. (We had to.)
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Liquid Foundation
Huda Beauty knows what they’re doing. This foundation offers full coverage, but it won’t give you a flat finish. Its matte effect will reduce shine, but you won’t be a cake-face. It blurs pores and any imperfections you’re looking to hide, while also letting your skin breathe. It won’t crease, smudge, or clog, making it one of the best skin-friendly, imperfection-hiding foundation.
THE INKEY LIST Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment
We included THE INKEY LIST in our article about succinic acid, so we had to feature it again. A run-down: the succinic acid in this blemish treatment exfoliates without drying, salicylic acid unclogs, hyaluronic acid moisturizes. The chain reaction eliminates your blemishes pronto without totally drying out your skin. The formula’s efficiency makes it stand out as a cult favorite.
Benefit Benetint
It would be wrong of us to not include Benefit. Their Benetint is a multi-purpose tint that can be used to add a subtle flush to your cheeks and a nice, long-lasting stain to your lips. Overall, it will give you a gorgeous color that will make you glow from day to night.
Cult Beauty is growing as a brand (look at their website — with all of their offerings, it’s a no-brainer as to why), and I am so excited to be discovering new beauty brands. Now, excuse me as I add way too many items to cart immediately.
