7 Detox Smoothie And Juice Recipes To Beat That Post-Holiday Bloat

I don’t know about you, but I end every holiday season feeling crazy bloated. It’s not even about the number on the scale for me, but just about how I feel. It’s because I go wild on the gluten, sugar and dairy during the holiday season, while normally I try to keep my consumption of those to a minimum.

Every year I’m on the hunt for new smoothie and juice recipes to help me detox from the holidays. Here are some great detoxing smoothie and juice recipes to get your body back in working gear for the new year!

Detoxifying Lemon Ginger Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • juice of 1 whole, large lemon
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk (carton, not canned)
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 tablespoon raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons collagen peptides or vanilla plant-based protein powder of choice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend for 1 minute until completely smooth, adding more liquid if you would like a thinner consistency.
  2. Enjoy immediately.

Detox Spinach Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 apple
  • 1 cup young spinach leaves
  • 1 lime (or orange, lemon)
  • water as needed

Directions

  1. Peel bananas and apple, cut into slices and put into a blender. Wash spinach leaves and add to blender. Squeeze juice of 1 lime (can be replaced with orange or lemon) into the blender. Add water as needed.
  2. Blend until smooth and serve.


The Anti-Bloat Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 banana
  • 1 large cucumber, sliced
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • handful of ice

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until super smooth. Enjoy!
  2. Hardcore Version: Add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar to the mix.

Bikini Ready Green Detox Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups kale, de-stemmed (or spinach, chard etc.)
  • 1/2 english cucumber, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 small lemon, peel removed
  • 1 ripe banana, frozen
  • 1 cup pineapple (frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1/21 teaspoon spirulina powder (depending on preference)
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup cold, filtered water
  • handful of ice (optional)

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth and creamy.


Detox Morning Veggie Juice

Ingredients

  • 4 stalks celery
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 4 small carrots
  • 1 small lemon (peel taken off)

Directions

  1. Run all ingredients through a juicer. Chill or add ice if desired, drink and enjoy!

Anti-Inflammatory Juice

Ingredients

  • 2 green apples
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 4 stalks of celery
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 knob of ginger
  • optional: fresh turmeric, fresh black pepper

Directions

  1. Run all ingredients through a juicer. Chill or add ice if desired, drink and enjoy!


Carrot Ginger Apple Juice

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • large apple, quartered
  • 1 large carrot, cut (about 3 oz)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled, optional
  • Ice cubes for serving

Directions

  1. Place ingredients into a blender. Put the lid on securely. Turn the dial to the lowest setting – dial 1, start the blender. Gradually increase to the highest speed – dial 10, and blend for 45-50 seconds or until completely smooth. 
  2. Use a fine-mesh strainer over a pitcher and pour in the juice, Stir with a spatula or spoon until the liquid has run through. The solids will remain the sieve. Pour the juice into a glass and serve with ice cubes. Enjoy! 
  3. Note: A juicer can also be used for this recipe if available
