Brown Sugar Face Scrub

Thanks to Amy at A Blossoming Life for the recipe!

Dry skin can be incredibly irritating, so make sure to scrub it away with this brown sugar face scrub. Most people get a little freaked out at the thought of putting sugar on your face, but brown sugar is one of the best natural exfoliants because it can soften your skin and unclog those pores, while being a cheap and natural alternative to harsher face scrubs.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar packed

  • 1/2 cup oil

Note: Keep in an airtight container in a cool dry place. If any water gets into the jar, it will spoil much much faster, but this will last at least one month if stored properly.

Directions

  1. In a bowl, add packed brown sugar.

  2. Pour oil into the bowl with brown sugar.

  3. Optional: add in essential oils, or a tiny bit of vanilla extract.

  4. Mix together and keep stored in an airtight container in a dry place.

To Use: I like to use it in the shower. Wet my face and body with water, apply a small amount of scrub onto hands and apply to the area you want in a small circular motion. Rinse sugar off and feel your smooth silky skin.

Honey Oatmeal Homemade Face Mask

Thanks to A Cultivated Nest for the recipe!

This honey and oatmeal face mask is simple and oh so soothing. Just mix, apply, and rinse away, and you’ll be amazed at how smooth your skin feels. Oatmeal is especially good for sensitive skin, so everyone can be pampered with oatmeal DIY skin treatments.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup oats

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1-2 tablespoons water

Directions

  1. To protect your clothes from the mask possibly dripping off, you may want to drape a towel over your chest/neck. Also pull any loose hair out of the way.

  2. Wash your face so you have a clean base. Dry your face before continuing.

  3. Using your fingers or a fan brush, apply the honey oatmeal face mask generously on your face, avoiding eyes, nostrils and mouth.

  4. Leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes. It may dry out somewhat, which is completely fine.

  5. Rinse the mask off your face with cool water. If you need to rub dried up parts off, use gentle, circular motions.

  6. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

  7. Apply your favorite moisturizer and enjoy how smooth and moisturized your skin feels!

Tea Tree Sleeping Mask

Thanks to The Natural DIY for this recipe!

Now that it’s been several long months of wearing a mask, we are all too familiar with the #maskne that comes along with it. This simple acne mask recipe mixes together simple ingredients  for a quick fix and soothing experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons commercial aloe vera gel

  • 3-4 drops tea tree oil

  • 3-4 drops vitamin E oil

Notes:

Do not use essential oils directly on skin and hair, always use it with a carrier oil or mixed with other ingredients in a recipe.

If you are pregnant, lactating or suffer from a health condition, consult your doctor before using any remedies or products.

Always patch test before using any ingredient or product to check whether you are allergic to it.

Directions

  1. In a bowl, take 2 tablespoons of commercial aloe vera gel. (Fresh aloe vera gel would not work as you need emulsifiers so stick to a good commercial aloe vera gel brand.)

  2. Add in tea tree essential oil along with vitamin E oil and give it a good mix until you get a homogeneous mixture, make sure that everything is well emulsified.

  3. Transfer to an easy to use jar and massage it on your facial skin before you go to sleep.
