The first time I smelled Tom Ford’s Rose Prick perfume, I gagged.
Why would I smell a perfume that is literally called rose when I detest the smell of roses? Because it’s Tom Ford. And when Tom Ford makes anything, even if it’s a perfume made with a scent you loathe, you somehow think he made it better. That’s how much faith I have in Tom Ford.
Naturally, after this, I assumed all rosy floral scents were off the dressing table. Wrong! I was meeting a friend for drinks and when she greeted me with a hug, her perfume was intoxicating.
“What perfume is that?” I demanded.
She answered, “Gucci Bloom.”
You bet your ass I was at Nordstrom at 10 a.m. the next morning buying my new favorite perfume. Although many floral scents have heavy rose notes, some lean more on other floral inspirations, which is why I love Gucci Bloom. The tuberose notes are light and smell completely different (to me, at least) than regular roses.
But for all you rose-lovers out there, most of these fragrances are for you. And if you’re like me and don’t love that heavy rose scent, you can still find a floral fragrance you’ll love!
Floral perfumes are so popular because they’re a classic, and with their varying scent profiles, most anyone can find a floral fragrance that suits their style and is pleasing to the nose — whether you prefer light flower notes, or dark, sensuous smells. Whatever blossom family you gravitate towards, whether it’s jasmine, rose, magnolia, or orchid, there is a floral perfume calling your name.
We made a list of the 15 best floral perfumes so you can choose one (or two or maybe even three) because spring is right around the corner!
