Four Easy And Fun Ways To Get Active At Home During Quarantine

With COVID-19 still causing havoc around the world, lockdowns are happening again. Good news — with the vaccine very much here, there is light at the end of the tunnel! But continued lockdowns mean many gyms are closed, and we have to get active at home to stay fit. So get your new Curves N Combatboots on, get ready and start exercising at home with one of the four ideas below!

Running

It’s everyone’s go-to when it comes to working out at home, so it can’t be missed on this list! Running is great for losing weight if that is one of your goals, but it is also good for your mental and physical health. Not only will you improve your cardio fitness, but it is said that running will burn around 100 calories per mile run. Running requires virtually no equipment at all and you can always persuade your friends or family to join you (safely, of course!). If you haven’t done much running in the past, why not try a couch to 5k, and then if you enjoy it you could always try a half marathon later on in the year.

Yoga

As with running, yoga is another exercise that requires little equipment, making it very affordable to do at home. All you need is a yoga mat, fitness clothes and a yoga class on YouTube that you can put on your TV and follow. Once you’ve got the hang of things and know certain routines, you can practice your yoga outside in the garden or in a location of your choosing. Yoga is great for reducing your stress after a busy day at work, and it’s a fabulous way to relieve your muscles if you are feeling sore.

Home Workouts

There are many different home workouts that you can do online. Depending on your ability, there are classes that suit all ages and standards that you can do in your living room. If you enjoy a HIIT workout, take a look on YouTube for some HIIT workouts. Alternatively, you may like the LES Mills workouts like body pump which you can do on their website. If you need any recommendations, ask a friend and see what home workouts they’re doing!

Jumping Rope

When was the last time you used a jump rope? For many, you will be thinking back to school on the playground. Jumping rope is a great way to get active and stay fit. In fact, it is said jumping rope can burn more calories than going on a run! It’s cheap and easy to do although you may be surprised at just how hard it is, considering it may have been a few years since you last did it. One of the key benefits of jumping rope is that it can be done anywhere, so if you haven’t got much space you can do it in your living room, garden or just outside in the street.
