The Best Accessories To Refresh Your Home For The Fall And Winter Season

I always look forward to when the seasons change because it means I get to break out all my seasonal home accessories! I have these cute little pumpkin plates on woven fall placemats on my dining table right now, and I love how they bring a bit of fall indoors. Home accessories are a super fun way to add some spice to your living space whenever you feel like a room (or the whole house!) needs a bit of a reboot.
It’s that time of year where we all need a little pick-me-up (especially in 2020!). Earth tones, terra cotta hues, and elements inspired by nature are especially in right now, and they’re timeless! What better way to round out this year than giving your home a little makeover? Here are some fall/winter home accessories trends that are sure to knock your socks off!

We love a good throw pillow! And one of the best things about throw pillows is that they’re super easy to change out with the season and easy to store. To build an impressive and cohesive collection of decor pillows, start with a base color palette and then build onto it with variations in patterns, accent colors, and sizes. For fall, look for throw pillows that are earth-toned for an understated, modern vibe in cozy, ultra soft textures and pair with toasty accent colors. You know your space best!

Fall and winter are definitely blanket seasons. As much as I hate the cold, I love cozying up under a warm blanket with a cup of coffee (or hot chocolate, or a glass of wine). Aside from their obvious functionality, blankets also look so cute thrown over a couch or chair! Just switching your blankets can create a whole different mood for your space. For fall and winter, we recommend a chunky woven throw blanket that is super farmhouse homey, or an extra large plush blanket in a deep, rich color that will have you and your guests snuggling all night.

Area rugs are amazing pieces that can really make or break the vibe of the room. These pieces have the power to pull the whole room together, and can be easily swapped out with the changing seasons! The prices for area rugs can get steep so here’s a tip: If you have any fur babies, opt for a cheaper option because there’s a big chance it’s going to look worn in a few months. You don’t want to invest thousands into this piece for short-term use. There are plenty of affordable options that look more luxe than the price and feel so soft under the skin!

Now that you’ve broken out all those blankets and pillows, you have to have someplace to keep them within reach! Baskets should be your solution. Baskets are the perfect multi-functional pieces of decor — use large ones to store blankets and pillows, or small ones to hold festive gourds, fruit, or greenery!

Whether you’re looking to decorate your dinner table, coffee table, or any counter or table space in your home, a seasonal update using candles, flower arrangements, dinnerware, etc. is the perfect way to go about this and you have a lot of freedom with how you place these decorative pieces. You can also use these year after year in different areas of your home in different combinations so it always feels new! For dinnerware, you can choose plates and bowls in traditionally fall colors with gold accents then switch to pieces with silver accents for winter. What are your favorite scents for fall? You can place candles next to ceramic vases or small pumpkin decorations. The choices are endless.
