I know, I know it’s a fafillion degrees outside and we are all basically living on the surface of the god damn Sun at this point and I’m not sure I even believe that Fall exits as a real thing anymore or maybe it’s like a mirage… a giant pumpkin on the horizon a la Charlie Brown. So how can we even be thinking about anything Fall related? Well it’s probably safe to at least talk about colors right? By the time we are in the mood to discuss what the hot (don’t you dare even SAY that word) color are, it’ll be too late and stores will be stocked for Spring. We will have missed it. So we are gonna review some of Pantone’s Fall/Winter Colors, starting with Red Pear.
People are dumb, ya? Don’t get offended, girl, we all agree that people collectively are dumb. Marketing people REALLY think we are dumb. Like way, way dumb. Red pear? Bitch I got eyes, I can see that’s the same damn color you called Oxblood last year and maroon back in the 90’s and you’ve called it red wine, cordovan, burgundy, Bordeaux and a bunch of other dumb marketing names. It’s basically a fancy red with a bit of purplish in it. If you went to high school in the early ’90’s you probably had a pair of Doc Martens in this exact color. Now you know what I’m talking about, right? Or you know that color that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was wearing on the DVD box set of season one? That’s the one. You’re fucking welcome.
Ya I know I am fucking old. It’s my birthday this week, so I am embracing it. Also that’s a perfect metaphor for how this color WILL NOT DIE. Seriously, invest in something this season in “red pear” because it keeps coming back around. If I had kept those damn Doc Martens then Gabi could have been wearing them and they would still be fashionable. Classic color apparently, worth a purchase. Megan and I both have this polka dot number in what do you know, red freaking pear, in our closets because it’s super versatile and we stock it in our blog shop. She’s wearing it in small and I’m wearing it in a large for comparison, it runs pretty true to size, there’s elastic gathering at the waist, keyhole back and puff sleeves. It’s kind of a midi dress so may fit as more of a maxi on the short girls. Megan and I are both shorties and it hit mid calf. $52 and it’s a cute retro style that would work equally well for the office or weekend brunch.
I’ve also linked some pieces that Megan picked out from Shop Style with new Fall pieces in red pear that would be great additions to your closet if you’re thinking about incorporating this hot new (?) color into your current wardrobe. Stay tuned as we continue to explore the rest of the Pantone’s picks of the season.
