When it comes to my beauty routine, I’m not one to skimp. I don’t mind spending money if I know I’m going to see results, just ask my dermatologist. I’m pretty sure I’m funding her kids’ braces. And when I walk into Ulta or Sephora, girl you know I always grab a basket even if I come in for only one thing. I know myself better than that! But mama still loves a bargain so today I thought I would give you guys some of my top beauty buys under $5. These are all products I keep in my glam closet at all times and have used for years and years. If you don’t believe me (and honestly you should cause I would never lie to y’all), check out their stellar Amazon reviews.
- Sally Hanson Insta Dry Top Coat: Whenever we have friends come visit from Europe, they always want to hoard this. And I can’t say I blame them, if you paint your own nails this is an absolute MUST. It solves the main problem of my teenage years of waiting for my nails to dry forever and waving them around, sitting in front of the fan, sticking them out of the car window. I would try everything and always ended up with smudged nails.
2. NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee: I am not a huge fan of lip gloss. My hair gets stuck in it, it seems to disappear too quickly, is never hydrating enough, and is generally to shiny for me. But this is really buttery and even when the color has gone, the moisturizing remains. It’s not sticky, just really nicely hydrating and gives your lips a very smooth texture and a they have a little more oomph to their natural color. I definitely recommend.
3. Garnier Avocado Hair Mask: I love nothing more than soaking in a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a good hair mask. Self care is SO important, am I right ladies? Especially since I use hair extensions, the hair gets very dry and brittle and can look really awful, I have found that caring for my extensions as well as I would care for my natural hair makes them last way longer. I can easily get 6 months or more from one set of tape in extensions.
4. Rimmel Matte Primer: My skin always wants to be dewy dewy dewy so I try to pick matte products when I can to counteract all the shine and this is a great one. Ok, so it says $5.99 but actually you can find it for under $5 everywhere so it still makes the list. As I have gotten older I find it’s even more important to stick with matte because the dewier or creamier the formula, the more the creases and lines show. Yikes.
5. Aquaphor: The kids and I jokingly refer to this as Aqua-for-everything because that’s how we use it. For burns, bug bites, cold sores, chapped lips, makeup remover, to unstick a stuck zipper- literally anything. It’s a miracle in a tube, a tub or a jar. I couldn’t live without it.
I would love to hear your favorite beauty bargains. I’m always on the hunt for my new favorites.
