1. Everyday Girl
For everyday, a plain tee and white sneakers brings an otherwise formal or evening looking skirt down to casual. I prefer low profile sneakers like Keds, but this would look just as cute with the oversize sneaker trend, like the Golden Goose brand. And for a tee, I would pick a fitted tee or tank, tucked in, with the right fabric to drape or hug the body and not bunch. A good statement skirt has a bit of volume to it already, so you don’t want the fabric of the tucked-in-tee make you thicker in the waist or hips. For cooler climates, add a denim jacket for a pop of contrast.
2. Date Night
For date night, vamp your skirt up with strappy heels and a leather jacket. Keep accessories light since the skirt is the showstopper in this equation. The leather and stilettos bring an otherwise conservative length skirt into full sexy mode. Under the leather jacket could be a vintage band tee or a silk camisole – either one would give you the edgier look you’re going for.
3. Office Girl
For the office, we keep things sweet and understated with basic pumps and a sweater. The sweater should be long enough to keep the volume of the skirt to a more conservative and leaner profile. Make sure you choose something either form fitting like a turtleneck or crewneck sweater so you don’t look like a circus tent. If you are very petite, you can swap out for a chunky sweater that stops at the waist, just be aware that the look will end up less professional. If your office isn’t air conditioned like the Arctic tundra, you can try the skirt with a button up dress shirt in a solid color, preferably white or black.
