We know metallics are always big around the holidays- think lame or sequins, but don’t leave out brocade. A popular textile in interior design, brocade is having a major moment in fashion for Fall/Winter, especially for Holiday and I’m not mad at it. Brocade had its big hurrah in the Middle Ages and most people kind of associate it with their Renaissance faire costumes, but this ladies and gentlemen, is brocade reinvented. Brocade is a rich fabric, three dimensional and full of texture. It really says LUXE in a big way…
Here are some of my favorite ways to wear brocade. It’s super fun because it’s a great way to add a touch of metallic thread without a big METALLIC moment, you know? Sometimes you want to be extra, but not that extra. A brocade blazer like this Badgley Mischka Charlie blazer can elevate jeans and tee but looks especially holiday ready with trousers and a velvet tank like the Erika black velvet one from Peach.
A brocade lace blouse can take you from day to night. With black jeans and ballet flats you can be the queen of the PTA meeting but be ready for date night with a leather pencil skirt and pumps. This floral brocade lace blouse from Nissa has an added velvet bow at the neckline for extra punch. You don’t need to accessorize when there’s this much going on.
Holiday dinner at home with the fam? A simple black turtleneck and these fab brocade cigarette pants from Slate & Willow will keep you comfy and chic for the day’s festivities. Photo ready and comfortable? Yes, please.
