The chain belt is one of the most underrated accessories in my opinion. It’s a bold look and I can see how it might be intimidating to style, but it’s surprisingly much more versatile than you may think! I recently purchased my first chain belt and have had so much fun dressing it up.
There are plenty of styles to choose from but my recommendation is to start with a basic single or dual, thin or medium sized chain. Chain belts that feature large pendants and multiple chains will be harder to style if you’re new to the accessory. I’ve compiled inspo and some of my own looks to show you how to easily incorporate this accessory into your spring and summer wardrobe. Let’s get into it!
Cinch A Dress
This is the easiest way to style your chain belt! Whether your dress already skims your body or has a looser fit, the chain belt is a great addition. The belt also pairs well with any fabrication. Here I have styled it with a midi satin dress with a slit for an elevated look but it looks great worn over dresses of all lengths. I’ve also styled it with a mini bodycon dress in this article. For the fall and winter, adding a chain belt to a sweater dress/oversized sweater is such a glamorous update. It cinches you in at the waist and gives you a feminine silhouette.
Belt Your Bottoms
Wearing trousers or denim bottoms? Rock them with a chain belt instead of a leather one! You can create a chic office look if you opt for a simpler chain belt or glam it up with a bolder chain. Not only is it an unexpected element that screams fashion, but it also makes your outfit that much more versatile because the belt can easily take you into a night time look.
Over A Cover-up
For colder months, a blazer and chain belt combo is super chic especially when paired with knee high boots. However for the spring and summer, you can still use a chain belt to create a similar silhouette with your outer layer. For the warmer months, I gravitate towards lightweight shackets, longline cardigans, and oversized men’s shirts. Here I have belted it at my waist over my swim cover-up (an oversized men’s shirt) to create some shape. And bonus: you can also style it as a body chain over your bikini or one-piece swimsuit.
