What’s Better Than Bread? This Easy To Make Focaccia Recipe!

If it hasn’t been established enough yet, let me say, I love bread.

Whether it’s a snowy day, a lazy day, a busy day, or just a day — it’s bread day.

Another thing I love is uncomplicated recipes. Because, no matter how much I love bread, I can’t just make bread all day. Or maybe I can…anyway, today, I am making what the internet is calling the easiest bread to make.

I’m over the moon about this bread because it’s beautiful, it’s easy, and it has garlic in it. Bon appetit says, “We’re not exaggerating when we say it requires zero skill.” And I love making things that require no skills. So, let’s make some bread!

Thank you Inspired Taste for the recipe!rosemary focaccia bread

Ingredients

Garlic Olive Oil:

  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 garlic cloves (finely minced)

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp dried rosemary

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Bread:

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 2 + ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • ¼ tsp honey

  • 2 + ½ cups flour

  • ½ tsp sea salt

Directions

1. In a cold medium skillet, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, thyme, rosemary, and black pepper. Place the pan over low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 minutes. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and honey. Stir a few times, then let it sit for 5 minutes.

3. Add 1 cup of flour and ¼ cup of the garlic olive oil to the bowl with the yeast and honey. Stir 3-4 times until the flour has moistened. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

4. Stir in the remaining 1 + ½ cups of flour and salt. When the dough comes together, transfer it to a floured board and knead 10-15 times until it’s smooth.

5. Transfer the dough to a large oiled bowl and cover it with a warm, damp towel. Let it rise for an hour.

6. After 1 hour, heat the oven to 450°F.

7. Use 2 tablespoons of the remaining garlic olive oil mixture to oil a 9×13-inch rimmed baking sheet.

8. Transfer the dough to the baking sheet, then press it down into the pan. Use your fingers to dimple the dough, then drizzle the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons of the garlic olive oil mixture. Let the dough rise for 20 minutes until it’s slightly puffy.

9. Bake until golden brown, 15-20 minutes.
