We Tested The DB Method Squat Machine: Is This Kardashian Favorite Worth It?

A few months back, I started seeing ads all over my social media for the DB Method squat machine. With quarantine, my gym routine had basically gone kaput and I was maybe a little over-susceptible to ads promising to get my booty in shape. I love my butt as is, but I am in my mid 40’s now and a less perky caboose is no doubt on the horizon. So at a reasonable $229, I clicked a few times and the machine was on its way to my house. Lemon squeezy for sure.

When it arrived and I took it out of the box, I was a little dismayed at the “assembly required” as the thing looked intimidating. But all by myself I had it put together in less than 10 minutes. I figured it was pretty basic, everyone knows how to do a squat. So instead of watching the recommended videos, I just hopped on and started squatting. Mistake. The videos that show you the proper posture and technique are key. It took me a couple times of watching to figure out the trick, and once I had my butt and toes in proper form the burn was REAL.

The DB Method only requires you to commit 10 minutes at a time to the workout. Who doesn’t have 10 minutes? My life is banana pancakes crazy and I can find 10 minutes, plus it’s not intense cardio or requiring laser focus, so you can definitely do the routines while you’re on a call or watching TV once you have them mastered. The machine is also light enough that I can move it around on my own, so you could easily pull it out into the center of a room, do your 10 minutes, and then tuck it away somewhere. It’s not going to take up a ton of space as it’s fairly compact.

I know what everyone is dying to know — how’s my butt look after these few months? Well, I will tell you that these workout routines in the DB video series are not a joke. Beginners can definitely do them, but you will FEEL it in your tush and back of your legs. And after less than a month I could already see a difference in the roundness and perkiness of my posterior. I don’t think I have Kardashian butt status, but it’s pretty cute for a mom in her 40’s, that’s for sure. No, I will not be posting a picture of my butt either before or after, so sorry to everyone who clicked through just to see my tush. Ain’t happening. You’ll have to take my word for it.

If you’re looking for an addition to your home workout routine and you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars, the DB Method fits the bill. Can you just squat without a special machine? Of course. But the DB Method adds resistance and corrects your form so that the squats feel so much more productive and that makes it worth it to me. It’s a winner in my book.
