Cute Designer Umbrellas That Will Have You Wishing For Rain

Featured Image Source

Choosing an umbrella for purely functional reasons is so overrated. Who wants another boring black umbrella with a black plastic handle? No one, that’s who. (I mean, I suppose if you’re showing up to a funeral, you don’t want to tote a baby blue Star Trek umbrella with the phrase Live Long And Prosper splashed across the dome, but that’s all about appropriateness and not style).

In every other case you’ll want an umbrella that has the perfect splash of style — preferably one that won’t get lost in a tumble of other umbrellas.

We can’t forget function, though. A few years ago, my husband and I were walking back to our Airbnb in Montmartre when we got caught in a sudden downpour. We ducked into the closest tourist shop and bought an umbrella, confident that it would keep us dry during our trip. Well. You can probably guess what happened next. The following morning, we took a trip to the Normandy region of France, an area known for gusty winds. Within three seconds, that 15 euro umbrella inverted and took flight like a dandelion in a hurricane.

Which is to say, I’ve lost some cash on cheap umbrellas, (and in the case of the above umbrella, my dignity). But I’ve come in peace, my friends. Don’t go down the same cold and rainy road that I did. Get the cute designer umbrella that will also keep you dry. The one that will have you wishing for rain and designing your entire outfit around.

Moschino Logo Umbrella

The logo pattern of this Moschino umbrella is great, of course, but what really stands out is the shiny gold handle. Choose from white, black, or a bold blue.

Balenciaga All-Over Logo Umbrella

Balenciaga’s take on the standard black umbrella impresses with its diagonal logo print. Get this just so you can say, “Hand me my umbrella, please. It’s the black Balenciaga in the corner.”

Off-White Logo Umbrella

The slightly irreverent Off-White brand delivers with its version of a logo umbrella. The ‘insert sunshine here’ phrase printed on the interior is cute but not too twee.

Alexander McQueen Logo Trimmed Umbrella With Skull Handle

The great thing about Alexander McQueen is that they’re not here to make you feel good…they’re here to make a statement. Their umbrella has a discreet logo trim and a totally bonkers skull handle. I’m obsessed.

Burberry Logo Print Folding Umbrella

Burberry is like Charlotte on Sex And The City – classic, traditional, and all heart. This Burberry umbrella sleeve comes in the standard print, yet the accessory inside is the standard black.

Moschino Star Umbrella

I love this umbrella more than I like most people. The stars. The teddy bear. The bold Moschino logo. Perfection.

Off-White Clear Logo-Print Umbrella

Clear umbrellas can seem like a bit of a cop out, but this version by Off-White uses the logo to break up the transparent look. Carry it when you feel like blending in, but you can’t because you’re just too awesome.

Versace Barocco-Print Umbrella

Versace has no desire to fit in, darling, and their umbrella is no different. The ombre handle adds just the right amount of contrast. I’d even use this as a sunshade, because I’m extra like that.

Fendi FF Motif Umbrella

I’m imagining a future version of myself carrying this umbrella to the family dinner where I tell all of my great-great-grandchildren that I’m writing them out of my will.

Burberry Walking Check Umbrella

While it’s practical to grab an umbrella you can shove into a satchel or tote, walking stick umbrellas always remind me of that famous snapshot of Princess Diana and Fergie at the Royal Ascot. Go for the full length umbrella when you want a classic ‘old money walking their AKC champion golden retriever Thimble in a light rainstorm’ vibe.
