A Fashion Story Inspired By Art Masterpieces

It’s been raining here for a week straight and since we can’t go anywhere and now we can’t even go outside for walks or fresh air, I feel like I am unraveling. One of the things keeping me sane is the amazing virtual tours available from so many of the most renowned museums in the world. Have you tried these yet? I love the Musee d’Orsay in Paris and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam but honestly most museums are offering virtual tours right now so cross one off your bucket list. The google street view tours are my favorite because it truly feels like you are walking through the halls of some of the world’s greatest museums.

If I can’t actually be physically close to the art right now, I thought at least I can wear clothes inspired by the masterpieces. This Stella McCartney dress looks like a work of art, she has had many collections inspired by famous paintings or with prints taken directly from famous artists’ work. The A-line cut of this dress (and yes, it had pockets) make it super easy to wear and comfortable.  It’s perfect for Spring even if the weather isn’t cooperating. I can’t wait for the day I can wear this to brunch or a garden party.

So go virtually tour some museums today and once you’ve found some art that you love, pick out a piece of clothing that feels inspired by that work and wear it proudly. Art and fashion have always gone hand in hand, they are just different expressions of the same energy and passion. Find what inspires you and then translate that into a form of self-expression. I’ve linked some of my favorites here, but art is super personal, so feel free to take this as a starting point to find your own work of art.
